— THE STARTING POINT

Your tech skills are strong.

Your English holds you back.

Working in international tech means constant English - in standups, code reviews, demos, and Slack threads. Miscommunication slows teams down. Missing the right words in a meeting costs you visibility.

We fix that.

Understand colleagues better

Follow fast-paced discussions with English-speaking teammates and never miss the nuance again.

Speak more fluently

Express your ideas clearly in standups, retros, and client demos without hesitation.

Expand job opportunities

Open doors to international roles, remote teams, and global tech companies.

Grow your network

Engage confidently in tech communities, conferences, and online conversations.

— OUR APPROACH

Not a general English class.
Your English class.

▶ BUILT FOR AGILE TEAMS

Role plays & simulations

We simulate real agile scenarios - planning, stand-up, retrospectives - so the language you practise is the language you actually use.

▶ DISCUSSION-BASED

Ideas, not grammar drills

Classes take the form of real discussions. You learn to articulate technical ideas, give feedback, push back, and present, all in English.

▶ FLEXIBLE FORMAT

Easy to fit into work life

Just 1 hour per week of live online class. Optional homework focuses on grammar and writing. Intensive options available on request.

▶ SMALL GROUPS

5 to 10 students only

Small enough that every student gets speaking time and personal feedback every session. Big enough for meaningful simluations.

▶ ONGOING SUPPORT

WhatsApp group between classes

Questions, vocabulary, real situations. We stay connected and supportive between live sessions in our WhatsApp community.

▶ REAL EXPERIENCE

Taught by tech practitioners

We've held multiple roles in agile teams and understand the language, culture, and challenges from the inside.

— WHO WE ARE

Taught by people who have lived agile.

Between us, we bring more than 30 years of hands-on experience in tech - as developers, leads, consultants, and coaches. We know what a sprint demo feels like. We know the anxiety of presenting to stakeholders in a second language.

We designed this course because we could not find a programme that truly spoke to the tech world we know.

So we built one.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Backlog2Demo different from a general Business English course?

Most Business English courses teach you how to write emails and attend meetings — useful, but generic. We built this course specifically for agile tech teams. Every role play, discussion topic, and vocabulary set comes from real tech environments: sprint planning, code reviews, retrospectives, stakeholder demos. Our teachers have worked as developers, leads, and consultants — they know what it actually feels like to present to a product owner in your second language.

Who is this course designed for?

Anyone working in tech who uses English as a second language at work. That includes software developers, designers, product managers, QA engineers, and team leads — essentially everyone who shows up to a standup, writes a Slack message to a colleague, or presents work to an English-speaking stakeholder. You don't need to know your level, we assess your level before you start and place you in the right group.

How are the classes structured, and how much time does it take?

Each package is 10 hours of live, small-group instruction delivered online, one hour per week. Classes are discussion-based — no grammar drills. Between sessions, there's optional AI-assisted homework focused on writing and grammar. The format is designed to fit around a full-time tech job: low time commitment, high impact. Intensive formats are available if you'd prefer to move faster.

How many students are in each class?

We cap classes at 10 students maximum, with a minimum of 5. Small enough that you get speaking time and personal feedback every single session. Big enough to run meaningful simulations — a standup with two people isn't a standup. The small group also means you're learning alongside peers who understand your context: the tech world, the pressure, the specific vocabulary.

How much does it cost, and can my employer pay for it?

Each 10-hour package is €400 per person. You can take one package or both (€800 total). Most of our participants claim the course through their employer's training or professional development budget — we provide company invoicing to make this easy. If you're not sure whether your company covers this kind of training, we're happy to provide a formal quote you can bring to your manager or HR team.

When are classes held?

Classes run during Central European Time (CET/CEST), making them ideal for professionals based in Europe or working with European teams. Specific time slots vary by cohort. Book an intro call and we'll match you with a schedule that works for you — or let you know when the next suitable cohort opens.

I'm not based in Europe. Can I still join?

Yes — the course is fully online and open to anyone globally, as long as the CET/CEST time slot works for your timezone. We've had participants from Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East joining teams that operate on European hours. If timing is a barrier, let us know and we'll explore options.

How do I know if my English level is right for this course?

We have a free proficiency test you can take in a few minutes. It helps us understand your current level and place you in the most appropriate group. You don't need to be at an advanced level — we work with participants from intermediate to upper-intermediate and above. What matters more than your score is your motivation to speak more confidently at work.
